  1. That might be a good first round game, huh? I know scotlandville shouldn’t be as good after graduating Smart but MaxPreps has them at 19-0 for what that’s worth.
  2. That’s why it should be Texas, Alabama, and 2 at large bids every year. OU always chokes. I think Stoops never figured out people were trolling him calling him “Big Game Bob.”
  3. Well, only 3 teams have beaten a CFP team: Alabama, Clemson and Texas. Now that we have identified the top 3 teams in the country, we should just round robin this thing out and decide who is the best team once and for all. Otherwise, Bama or Clemson are going to need an asterisk by their title
  4. Okay 10-4A is a bunch of prep schools UIL put together in one district. So our original thought was correct. They will definitely be a contender in that region.
  5. That’s what I thought based upon them being top 5 in all the rankings. Maybe Todd or Mike can clear it up for us. I’m confused.
  6. That’s why I thought they were in that 4A region. Their schedule says they play a bunch of prep schools where most play district games though. So I have no idea why they are in the rankings.
  7. Looks like they play in a prep league so no. I don’t think any private or charter schools should be allowed to play UIL personally.
  8. That’s because almost no one had. Cedar Hill’s entire coaching staff moved there after last season. One of those “charter schools” our secretary of education DeVos is so fond of. They rounded up some players too and have some impressive wins, most notably for me is Katy Tompkins. They are one of several teams that could make it out of that region. Bottom line is if Silsbee is focused and firing on all cylinders, they are better than all of those teams. If they aren’t, could lose to any of them in any given game.
  9. Exactly. Hard to believe they couldn’t get a Campbell or Babers. Diaz looked like a genius in the SEC when he was blitzing every down in a league that had incredibly lousy QB play at the time. Went to Texas and got exposed against high powered offenses. Nice guy and a good recruiter though. If he hires some really good coordinators, could work out. No way he’s my first choice at a school like that though. Rutgers seemed about right for his next move.
  10. That is crazy. Maybe he will be great, but seems like a very blah hire. Hard to fathom Manny is an upgrade from Richt.
  11. I think you and certainly some of your compadres don’t understand the power structure in CFB. If conference realignment happens, you guys are going to be on someone’s teat, that’s for sure. And one fairly hilarious recent post posited that Texas would be scrambling for a conference to join. Make no mistake about it, Texas is and always will be one of the crowned jewels of college sports, on a very short list of said jewels. And here’s a news flash, there is only one Texas school on that list. I guess you guys should root for the status quo. Better to be mediocre on a dominant jock strap, I suppose...
  12. Me thinks the truth is more scary than funny, little sister...
  13. Sadly, there is no doubt there is a large contingency of aggy that would rather both of us lose our bowl games than both of us win. If mighty Georgia falls to the Horns, they will lose their minds.
  14. Fertita can afford to pay way more than any coach could demand. U of H won’t have to “pass the hat” like some schools to pay a coach. Or they only need one hat rather.
  15. No doubt he’s going to be up for some bigger jobs. I’m hearing Holgerson to UH was agreed to in principle before Opie got canned. I thought Tech was a stretch when he wanted that job and Cougar High is unimaginable. He must really hate those hillbillies. Thus, im guessing he’s not gunning for an SEC job.
  16. I spent some time with one of Matt Campbell’s players this afternoon. Said Leach went out of his way after the game Friday to come to the Iowa St locker room to compliment him on the game and congratulate him on his season. He also said they spent some pre-game day time with the WSU players. He said a lot of them said Leach was the weirdest dude they’ve ever met and, ironically, they were telling him about that picture. I’m also w huge Pirate fan and would love to have dinner, or even better, a few drinks with the guy. He would be way up there on my list.
  17. Starter should be in quotation marks. Kyle Allen and Garrett Gilbert were the two signal callers for Carolina today with Cam out, playing NO on their self-imposed bye week. No wonder Colt is making 3 mil as a backup QB.
  18. He’s a different kind of dude who has trouble relating to kids sometimes. Absolute genius though. That’s why he’s consistently won with 2-3 stars. But he struggles with recruiting because he’s going to be himself. Talked to a kid that ended up at Texas several years ago that was a top 10 OL in the state (4 star kid). He had Tech ties but said Leach freaked him out. Told me he was in Leach’s office and Leach opened a mini fridge that was stocked wall to wall with Red Bull’s. Then, according to this kid, talked for at least 15 minutes about Red Bull without taking a breath. I’m sure we would have all been rolling and enjoyed every word. Sometimes to 18 year old kids, he just comes across as weird.
  19. Problem with Holgerson and Leach is recruiting. That is the toughest state for recruiting because you have 3 schools that any given year could be the best of the bunch. Can Holgerson or Leach win enough to satisfy Cane fans with USF or UCF talent? I would hire Charlie and hope he hires the right coordinators. Or hire him and the coordinators. I think he wants that job so bad he’d agree.
  20. To be fair, I don’t think aggy realized they could ride jocks without shame until they joined the hillbilly conference. There, riding Bama’s coattails is no more taboo than marrying your cousin. So in truth, I'm not sure aggy knew it was a thing. Otherwise, they could have been okay with sucking for years, and merely piggybacked big brother’s accomplishments as their own. But let’s be happy for them; they have apparently finally found peace with their mediocrity after searching for three quarters of a century. I say let them be blissful in their ignorance.
  21. Is that how Johnny Cokehead did it? Because I hate the break it to you, Kyler is better at every facet of the game than the greatest QB that didn’t have the sense to transfer out of that hellhole. Obviously Kyler is way smarter, although arguably equally douchy.
  22. North shore is one of those teams that won’t beat themselves. They are talented, but they also play very disciplined. I’m not saying United “can’t” beat NS, but I certainly wouldn’t bet on it. They are going to have to get a LOT better and quickly.
  23. We woulda let you get a whiff of our jocks when you got to see us beat the “greatest team ever” for a natty. All you had to do was ask nicely. And you didn’t have to drive to Tuscaloosa to do it either.
