  1. I was wondering. When I was in school, they had a bunch of big ol' schnitzel-fed German kids....
  2. That is no joke. There are more than 2 teams that could easily make it out of that region. Not a lot separating them all IMO
  3. Herman is hosting a Texas High School Coaches Association Clinic the same day as aggy spring game. Keynote speaker? Bill Belichick. Herman is a genius... Well, we knew he was due to mensa but I mean he's really a genius...
  4. They have what they need coming in: Matt Coleman, a PG from Oak Hill who came down to Texas or Duke. This is basketball, so Shaka's leash will be longer than Charlie's. And Shaka can coach...and recruit. He's going to be fine. I'm not trying to compare him to Coach K, but after going 17-13 in his first year at Duke, he went 10-17 and 11-17 in years 2 and 3. Sometimes it's about getting your guys in and getting your footing. There are 3-5 schools who can get the number of 1 and dones in to compete. Texas isn't one of them at this point obviously. Shaka will be given a fair amount of time and I'm willing to bet anyone he has a successful career at Texas.
  5. Brazosport does not have the depth or horses to hang with Silsbee...they just don't.
  6. I predicted no more than 3 losses in 5 years, this being year 3. Even if the double forfeit counts as a loss, I stand by the prediction.
  7. Spent the evening at Ford Park watching a couple of baseball games with Javorskie Lane. His son plays on a team my college roommate coaches out of Kingwood. Super good guy. Thinks the Herman hire was a home run for Texas.
  8. You knew it was only a matter of time! Congrats to Coach Foster and the Wildcats! Keep it going.
  9. Yates vs. Huffman, Monday, Feb. 27, 7:30 pm, SHSU, Huntsville.
  10. By the way, 40% from 3 pt range yields the same production as 60 percent from inside the arc. Any coach, anywhere (that has a clue) will take that percentage all day long.
  11. Soulja - unfortunately most people aren't like you. It kills me the amount of people who proclaim to be Constitutionalists yet convienently forget one of the foremost principles this country was founded upon - innocent until proven guilty. They read something, see something on tv, and let the lynch mob begin for whomever happens to be accused. The bottom line is we are to PRESUME someone is innocent until they are proven guilty in a court of law BEYOND A REASONABLE DOUBT. If anyone has borne the burden of being falsely accused of something (and most of us have at some point in our lives), they should realize the fundamental importance of this most precious of our tenets. But I wonder the same as you - Dr. Thomas was public enemy #1 so to speak in this whole ordeal. With all the investigation that has been done, I am surprised he hasn't been at least charged by now if they had the "goods" on him. Maybe he will in the future; we can only wait and see And I believe like you, most of the good folks within BISD want the best for their kids. I have many friends of all ethnicities in Beaumont that were outraged by the corruption that has been proven within the district and don't want any of it to occur again. I am hopeful that the elections will reflect that.
  12. And speaking of crunch time, I know of at least one game winner he hit...against Westbury Christian whose about to win another state title.
  13. You tried to tell me? Considering JJ was one of our summer kids and we have another one that will be there in the fall, I don't think there is much you could tell me about the Ags or their program or JJ's situation that I didn't know first... And one the of the main reasons he chose A&M was due to there being no PG on campus who could compete with him so their struggle without him is not a shock to anyone.
  14. Nowhere. Reading comprehension isn't their strong suit either!
  15. Congrats and well deserved to both! Tyler was a no brainer to me. And as much as I loved this Chain Gang defense (and Joseph was a beast), Vincent was the best defensive player I saw this year. He was on another level and completely took away the pass on his side of the field (reminiscent of a Mustang who now plays for Saban).
  16. Silsbee has the tougher draw as it turns out because North Forest and Yates are the 2 of the 3 best teams in the region. They will likely have to beat them both to make it to SA. They will be the favorite in both but they will also have to earn it.
  17. Don't mind Mack. As with most Ags, he has proven beyond a shadow of a doubt that he doesn't know his a$& from his elbow when it comes to hoops...
  18. He does need to play consistently harder on the defensive end and I've also said his body language is probably the number one thing he needs to improve. The irony is the way he carries himself on the court at times completely belies the kind of kid he is. Really good kid from a great family.
  19. I don't know how this regressed to Memorial vs Silsbee (which would be a good game and should be scheduled next year). I wouldn't say Jones is the best player from this area but I would probably say he is underrated. Someone commented about his range, another on his ball handling and both are correct. But the thing that impressed me most (and I saw him play either 4 or 5 times and I saw all the top teams in the triangle this year) was his midrange jumper. Hands down the best I've seen this year. Granted, I may overvalue that shot and am a bit nostalgic and old school regarding the game, but I love a kid who can stop on a dime and consistently knock down the 12-16 footer. I also love the elevation where he releases the shot. Very, very difficult to defend.
  20. Wow. That must make for an interesting home situation.
