  1. I agree to an extent. But it does defy logic when Buna has one less win and one more loss than Kelly but are several spots above them. They have won more games lately because their district is less demanding. So with a worse record and MUCH easier district, they are ranked higher. Makes sense to me!
  2. Obviously not better than Leggett or Hempstead! (Or a 12 loss Buna team).
  3. I agree to an extent. I would think 15 or more would be a reasonable spread against any of the teams in the region and even against a Brazosport or Region 1 teams. But I would take whoever comes out of Dallas +15 against Silsbee. Silsbee should beat anyone they play but beating a Lincoln or a Carter won't be a cakewalk.
  4. Those type of teams would get a really good test from Silsbee but I guess the stigma of losing to a lower classification team just before the playoffs may deter anyone from accepting. Thanks for the clarification on the games rule. I knew you would know.
  5. I don't think they are allowed to schedule a warm up game due to # of tournaments played. Could be wrong but I believe that's the case.
  6. WOS has had to contend with this the last two years in football and overcame that disadvantage. Silsbee is in better stead imo because Coach Sigler was able to put together a nondistrict schedule that has to be the most demanding in 4A. Cornel would like to do the same but always has trouble finding willing opponents. The question is will Silsbee be tested before San Antonio. As I anticipated, Yates beat North Forest on Friday (by about 10). To me, the Tigers will have to play REALLY bad to lose before SA with the possible exception of Yates. If Yates plays their best possible game, Silsbee will have to earn it. The huge advantage the Tigers have is obviously their tremendous depth. They have so many kids who can step up on any particular night. As such, they can often afford for a McCain, or Adams, or Harris to have an off night. Yates doesn't have that luxury. To be able to challenge Silsbee, Seriale and Hughes need to have their A+ game on that night.
  7. I agree with this with the addendum that they could still win if they play near their best.
  8. Fun fact? You know one thing both of Atlanta's Super Bowl teams have in common? A starter from Bridge City. Good luck to Matt Bryant and RIP to the late, great Shane Dronett.
  9. Member the days of 3 star char and giggling aggy? I member. See you in 365. I will be here to tell you I told you so....
  10. Good choice among his final 5. If I could have picked among those for him, that would have been my choice. Although USF would have been pretty funny.
  11. Silsbee would be a double digit favorite against B'port imo. They are a very good team that is playing well. Not near the talent Silsbee has though. Their best guard, Rossow, would be about the 5th best guard on Silsbee's team. And although they do have a big (Quick) with some talent, I think he would struggle with Silsbee's pressure. The big threat, as usual, will be whoever comes out of the metroplex.
  12. Silsbee played the third unit the entire fourth quarter (I believe) and sat back in a zone the entire quarter. Far from trying to run up the score. I've only seen one fan from another school in the district complain and I think it was refuted fairly quickly. In terms of the region, realistically the only team beating Silsbee is Silsbee. That's not a slight against the other schools but if Silsbee takes care of business, they should not have a game that goes down to the wire. I still think Yates is the biggest "threat," the game with North Forest notwithstanding. If NF beats them again on Friday, I will recant. But Yates has one of the best guards in the region in Jock Hughes and THE best forward in the region in the uber-athletic 6-7 Mitchell Seriale. That being said, you need more than that to beat Silsbee and I'm not sure they have enough other pieces to get the job done.
  13. AAW said Tigers finished with 14 3s. Seemed like 40!
  14. I guess some people need a game slow enough that they can keep up...how's that? but I do like your chess analogy...nicely done. (Although I guess the same would be applied to checkers...)
  15. Young man from Silsbee nailed the National Anthem. Wow.
  16. Dove and I would be prohibitive favorites obviously lol
