  1. Not even going to predict. I still owe you a dinner from last year's! I do think those will be the playoff teams. As for Central and Junkie's comments, Central has two junior guards with multiple D1 offers, and another who is a 6-4 or 6-5 shooter who was 1st team all district as a sophomore. Not like cupboard was bare. As for the Titans, not only do they return a 6A playoff team that was led primarily by sophomores (now juniors), they have a player who returned home from Kelly in that class. And he is every bit as good as what they had. Ozen will be good as always and so will Nederland. I see that district as "wide open" between the top teams. As for Fort Bend, aren't they all 6A now with the exception of Elkins?
  2. How did I miss this thread (thanks RebGP)? Two things - 1) Mr BG wins the thread and 2) I think the Tigers were feeling much more of a "sting" last Friday than Kolten...
  3. It looks like Cameron will indeed be at Victory Prep. However, Trevor has not been at Wheatley and leaves later this week for South Kent Prep in Connecticut. Apparently putting Wheatley on his form at the Rucker caused a stir that he had changed plans.
  4. It's pretty simple. For a coach/team to be successful, the players, and many times, the parents need to "buy in." Apparently, they weren't willing to do that at Palestine. And they certainly weren't accustomed to the "sweat equity" Coach T requires of his teams. To be fair, most have no idea the work the Mustangs put in. I always chuckle when folks just assume WOS always has the most talent. With the numbers and resources they have, there is no way they should be as consistently good and even great as they are. Except well...see above.
  5. Coach Davis is a great guy and does a fantastic job at HJ. He puts in hours above and beyond for the benefit of the kids. Lazeek is correct re: Carpenter. He is back at WB due to a family situation. That is a great family that has been through a lot in the last year or so with an illness and I know them well. They absolutely love Clay. I don't know much about Moreaux. To be honest, I knew more about him in football and knew he didn't play basketball, at least last year. As far as the other kid goes, I can only tell you if the family has an issue with Coach Davis, you can add him to a long list of coaches to which that would apply.
  6. LCM often seems to play WOS closer than they should. I don't think this game goes to the wire but would not be shocked if it were closer than most think. I will go WOS 27-14.
  7. Couldn't agree more. IMO, best athlete in SETX in the 2018 class (which is saying something because there's a few really good kids here in that one). He will be a big time college player somewhere and I still think his stock will soar in the next 2 years. As for tonight, in a half of football, had 107 yards on 3 receptions and a TD. Which proves the point you made - just get him involved wherever you put him.
  8. Kid is a ball player. Picked up a Tulane offer this week to go with a previous SMU offer.
  9. Yep, it's one game and if memory serves, Ozen lost an opener by a similar score to Memorial two years ago; a Titan team that ended up not being very good. The team Ozen lost to today is a juggernaut that would probably obliterate most of the teams in SETX. Seasons are not made or lost in Week 1...
  10. None of the above. Most surprising to me was Newton shutting out Kirbyville (followed closely by OF shutting out Buna though). Not because Newton isn't extremely good but I expected the Wildcats to get on the board for sure. The WOS and EC shutouts didn't surprise me at all. I probably would have predicted EC to shut out Kelly and I thought Nederland would have great difficulty moving the ball against an experienced, talented WOS defense.
  11. Looks like I'm only about 90 points off in one of my picks. I don't know why "Bellaire" threw me off...
  12. Ahhh, gotcha. Then yes, I think you're absolutely right.
  13. Going into last night's games, I would have favored Kirbyville in a competitive game. I still think it will be a good one, but not as sure now. I'm not down on the Wildcats because Newton, like most years, has a really good squad. OF may be better than I anticipated though (or Buna is really, really down).
  14. Not me. It's Memorial. And then PNG/Central/Nederland in no particular order.
  15. My understanding too. This one seems to be a functional improvement as well.
  16. That's a shame for the tens of fans there to support their Panthers...
  17. Doubtful. My guess is LSU. Texas and probably Florida State will be in his top 3. Does have a Bama offer though so never count Nick out.
  18. Marvin Wilson is the consensus top player in the State. Absolute beast.
  19. Yep. And wait until week 5. Some Tigers been writing checks with their mouths for months. We will see if they get cashed...
