  1. Ben Elliott with 23 & 10 to go over 2000 career points and become LCM’s all time leading scorer (passing Jason Throop). He’s certainly the best LCM player (in my opinion) since Throop.
  2. He was and deservedly so. IF he’s not the best player in the district now, he definitely should be the next two years. But he’s putting up all state number as a sophomore. There are some really fun kids to watch in this district. Sells is probably the most exciting of the bunch.
  3. Huffman is 0-3 now against HJ and HF (with HF winning by double digits on the road). Huffman also 0-2 against BC and LCM, two possible first round playoff opponents. I would say they are the best of the rest in that district but a notch below the other two. Definitely played the Hawks close twice though and should be commended.
  4. Sounds like one of those gut check wins after a bit of a big game hangover. Wins like that build character. Good for the Hawks.
  5. Big time win for your Lions. Basketball is better around here when Kountze is good.
  6. It would be even funnier if it weren’t true!
  7. Not for a while. Remi and Alex don’t have any kids yet to my knowledge and Garrison is the baby. I wonder how many they have combined. 12 years of varsity experience between the 3?
  8. How much would our buddy Stevenash have enjoyed this one?
  9. Earl and Bubba are quietly sitting in a boat fishing, chewing tobacco, and drinking beer when Bubba suddenly says, “I think I’m gonna divorce the wife. She ain’t spoke to me in over 2 months.” Earl spits overboard, takes a long slow sip of beer and says, “Better think it over buddy. Women like that are hard to find.”
  10. There is better reception in a war shelter in Bucharest than the Buna gym.
  11. Speaking of $13 million dollars, my understanding is that UNC has a $13m per year annuity that has been purchased. From what I was told, the intent is for each scholarship player on the Men's basketball team to receive $1m per year from said annuity. You can bet Kentucky, Kansas, Duke, and some others won't be far behind.
  12. I’m sure that had a lot more to do with Coach Chief whatever than Steve Worster. I will say the man was smart enough to hand the ball off to the best running back in the country every play.
  13. Agree on both counts. However, I always feel a little silly when I get surprised about a Coach Boutte team playing well and above expectations. You know?
  14. Yes he is. He’s a very good sophomore. And if it’s hyperbole, I get it. But people are getting a little overhyped after a win over a Buna team that struggled with Kirbyville last game. And he wasn’t even the best player in the gym when Kountze got donkey punched earlier this week.
  15. Sometimes I feel bad this board is free with the entertainment value of some of the posts 😂
  16. Same and most Silsbee games I’ve been to, I’ve rooted for the other team (because it was one of my kids or another Orange County team they were playing). “Get him off of him!” is the one I hear over and over that is like nails on a chalkboard for me. “Umm, he’s playing good defense ma’am” (or sir!). However, I’ve always rooted for Silsbee when I’ve seen them play in Houston, or out of this area. The irony is that on those occasions, it seemed far less fouls were called on Silsbee yet I heard far less whining from the fans of Silsbee’s opponents.
  17. That goes from basketball too and it annoys the heck out of me. Some schools are the worst. i will say that for a while (and I don’t know if he still does), a particular Hs Coach was using an out of area chapter and those honestly were some of the best officiated games I’ve seen. However, they were also the most annoying because people were screaming for fouls (in the opponent’s fans’ section of which I was a part) on every single possession. In reality they were just witnessing great defense and the officials weren’t calling every touch (as they shouldn’t). While I do believe a great number of the officials in our area are admittedly subpar, many of the fans are worse to the point it makes it cringy to sit and watch a game.
  18. That’s my issue. Why is it so bad in our area? Even the ones that are supposed to be the best veteran officials are mediocre at best. I don’t expect them to be college officials that I am used to seeing. But I don’t see why they are so much worse than almost every other HS region I’ve seen. I understand Houston has more people to pull from but they also have more games to cover. And I don’t expect them to be perfect. I doubt there has ever been a perfectly called game in the history of basketball. But at least be competent and know the rules.
