Back to original subject of thread, since LeBron's son will receive attention regardless, and since at 11, he already holds offers (including Kentucky), I think LeBron should pull the kid from AAU ball permanently. And there is no doubt in my mind he won't...

I would appear to be a huge bandwagon fan as well. In my defense, my favorite teams are based on who I grew up rooting for, which were the teams my old man rooted for. He grew up in the 40s and 50s and is a die hard Cowboys, Celtics and Yankees fan. He is also from West Texas and is a huge Tech fan. So those were my teams too, until I went to UT for academic purposes and added my alma mater to my list of teams. I will say that we are loyal. After I hit double digits into my mid 20s, the Yankees were pretty bad. Almost the same timeline with the Cowboys, except they became good again in my early 20s. I did have the Celtics though who were almost always very good throughout my childhood years. May be why basketball has always been my favorite sport... (My son on the other hand is getting his fair share of lean Celtics years. Still his favorite team though.)

I don't know. I got the point he was making and he wasn't incorrect about the educational situation there. Can take ESPN radio off of my presets now. The only reason I listened during the day was The Herd..

Old white dude with a skullet from the South is a racist? No way! -
Don't worry Mack. You little fellas are still more thrifty...

Not sure on McCain. Haven't seen him lately. Last time I saw Adams (a couple of weeks ago), I would say he's 6'2". Both are finishing above the rim now.
-
Yep, they (Gulf Coast Blue Chips '2023) played up 3 divisions to 13u at the AAU nationals (the big one in Memphis) this summer. They finished 2nd. And Brony is the second best player on the team. The best? Jared Harris of Silsbee. Not even kidding. And here come the Hawks! In 3, 2, 1....

The irony is how poor the overall coaching in the NBA is now. Coaches are overpaid cheerleaders who watch their players consistently walk the ball up the court, isolate, and play 1 on 1. Kids also like to emulate what they see on TV.

Devon McCain, Silsbee Jordyn Adams, Silsbee everyone else

True story on all of that.

As opposed to FSU's all white with black stripes?

He's referencing Silsbee's freshman class. He doesn't want to comment and turn this thread into the same old Silsbee/HJ thread. I hear PAM has some talent in the incoming class but haven't seen a lot of them. Memorial had the strongest Freshman class last year (even without a couple of kids who transferred out) and Silsbee will have the best one this year.

Since PA Basketball is a headline I got a ?

Nah, just HJ Actually, I look for HJ to be one of the better teams in the area as long as that coach of theirs is around. Which I presume will be for a long time... -

Just saying. He would have gotten some minutes for PAM's freshman team had he stayed. And I am aware of the issues. Still the most talented player on that Nederland freshman team, or so I was told. -
This year. The next two, it will be close between PAM and Silsbee for SETX supremacy.

Starting point guard on your freshman team last year... -
Obsession noted. But point taken...I am guessing you Ags have a lot more Major championships than the Horns?
-
Very true. Kelly arguably has your best player from both the incoming sophomore and junior classes.
-
Interesting point. I don't know if that's a good spot for him at that point though. If Travis is let go, you look like you want the job for yourself and that factored in to letting him go. Even when he isn't, you have an issue that people will say you should be dealing with instead of coaching.

Having said that, I think even if he is hired now, this is a better fit for Anthony than Central. Andre pulling double duty at least this year would benefit him as well. The Titans will be very young this year but the two after that they have the chance to be very, very good.
-
I took from his post that he would be ready after watching his dad for a season or two and getting acclimated. And I agree that would be the perfect situation for Anthony. And IMO, after the upcoming season, this is a much more "plum" job than Central.

NBA Summer League

How about that undrafted kid Aaron Harrison signing a 2 year deal with a guarantee? I guess that makes him not being drafted less "awkward" ;) -
Vidor's new hire as head basketball coach
TxHoops replied to AggiesAreWe's topic in High School Boys Basketball
I will reserve judgment for now. I will say that Williams is highly praised by some folks I know and respect. I think Vidor has a chance to be very competitive with him. -
I was thinking about Tiger today as Watson made his last loop in the country where he is probably most revered. While Tiger has gone through caddies like strippers, Tom was helping his with his bag, and sitting with him as he died of cancer. If you haven't read Caddy for Life about Watson and Bruce Edwards, I highly recommend it. Some of John Feinstein's best work.
