  1. Love and prayers for stevenash. I hope this stays up. The more prayers going up for him the better.
  2. I loved the reply too. Do we really need to include “animal” in the above sentence? (And this absolutely falls under the “takes one to know one” category...)
  3. What in the ❄️ does it matter who I root for? Many times I root for a school that has a particular kid on it, sometimes it’s geographically, sometimes because I’m rooting for karma due to a BS vote. Maybe next time adults will think twice about taking a year away from a kid. Regardless, I guess “cool” is in the eye of the beholder. I wasn’t going to say anything else on this matter, as it has been discussed ad nauseum, but like Michael Corleone, I keep getting dragged back in. But for the record, if you don’t think some HJ fans root for non-southeast Texas teams against Silsbee (and vice versa), you would be mistaken. Is it cool? My thoughts are who cares - it’s their prerogative. For what it’s worth, I have known one of your assistants (maybe your only assistant) for much of her life so Huffman is my absolute favorite cross country team in the state. That is the 100 percent truth. As for Hoops, go Tigers! Jump on that gas early and keep the pedal down.
  4. I would say you took a lot of good from your time with him. Pretty amazing how formidable that little school was in basketball and baseball. The joke was always, at least they don’t play football!
  5. I have found that “coachable” kids is often times directly related to the coach. Kids who were deemed to be difficult, are all of a sudden very coachable with the right coach. When they have great respect for their coach, there isn’t much they wouldn’t do for him or her.
  6. I’m rarely surprised by how well his teams performed. But this team had no business being two games from “State.” Like BSWildcats said in another thread, this run would not have been surprising next year. This year was a bit of a shocker. But then again, Foster ALWAYS gets the most out of his team. Credit those kids for always “buying in” as well.
  7. He is as good a man as he is a coach. I hate making comparisons between the great ones but I will just say he is as good as any I’ve seen.
  8. Very solid. I don’t think he’s better (or even as good) as the big from Foster though.
  9. Conference tournament. It has been a challenging year to say the least. He could probably help himself by putting a half dozen NAIA schools on the schedule (like a conference rival) instead of playing U of H, Air Force, Tulane, Louisiana Tech, Southern Miss, etc. But it is a young team with almost everyone coming back that has improved greatly over the course of the season.
  10. Obviously they didn’t play 24 games last week. It’s a weekly award, recognizing coaching going into postseason.
  11. Not a seasonal award. But obviously has his team playing their best basketball of the season going into March.
  12. My eyes were sweating some too. Thanks @baddogfor sharing.
  13. Let’s go Bobcats! Seventh schmeventh! They haven’t played any horsemen yet! (bullets and AAW are probably right but I still believe Bobcats)
  14. Those and add Kevin Foster of Big Sandy. He’s as good as any. I would argue the job he’s done this year (and the one Boutte did at WB) are among their best.
  15. Saw a fantastic meme where it read “Tony Chachere’s has announced they will be keeping their little coona$$ chef because Cajuns aren’t over-sensitive.” 😂🤣
  16. Was a great game too. One of the better ones I’ve been to. Other than some pretty poor officiating (it was bad for both teams and I’m usually pleased with Southland officiating - this game drew 2 of the worst ones in the conference), I thought the game was really well played. Both teams played a very clean, high level game.
  17. And two clutch 3s. And Kasen Harrison got an offensive rebound at the end of 2nd OT that was just all guts. They’ve been right there all year and just haven’t been able to close. It’s like that sometimes with young teams. And yes, this Covid schedule is all messed up. In fact, I think Lamar was ONLY team in conference that had to play SFA, Abilene, Nicholls, AND Sam. In fact, they played each of them twice. Those who are only casually following don’t realize that the Southland has 4 teams logjammed at the top (those 4) who are all very, very good. It’s the first time I can remember in a while you had that many teams in this conference at that level. Usually 1 or 2. So as it worked out, HALF of Lamar’s conference games were against those 4.
