Sounds about West Hardin to me.

BMT Enterprise Super Gold Teams Basketball

I'm not implying that you're for "everyone getting a trophy" just stating that it HAS to have a limit and in my opinion, this is a good one to have. I know there are several teams in the area but remember that up until very recently there were only 10 kids on the 1st Team All-State for each class and 10 2nd teamers (according to TABC). Now they just do 20 All-State kids. That's out of hundreds of teams and it usually always includes the 4 or 5 kids that were on the State Tournament All-tournament team (which I don't agree with). I'll agree with you that there are probably enough teams in the area to expand it some and still not be considered watered down.. It's just refreshing (like I said) to see it done this way as it makes it more prestigious for those chosen since it's so few. You're 100% correct about All-District awards these days... way out of hand is a much more politically correct description than I would have used. -
Without a doubt. Most likely won't be anyone experienced, though.
-
Yeah, that's usually not a good formula... In this case, the Assistant principal is not only the AD but the head basketball coach. That's an even worse formula.
-
Agree 100%. At a school 4A or smaller if your head football coach isn't your athletic director then good luck getting an experienced winning coach. Nobody wants to go to West Hardin to do head football and teach history half of the day. They would've had a hard enough time finding a quality guy anyway because of the money...or the fact that they're usually terrible.

No offense...but that's exactly how it starts. That's exactly how you end up with an MVP, two Co-OFF MVPs, two Co-DEF MVPs, 9 1st teamers and 11 2nd teamers in a district of fewer than 8 teams (example). Personally, it's refreshing to me to see it actually done right. 5 starters on a basketball team...5 kids on a 1ST TEAM anything basketball related. These 5 kids that were chosen were done so for a reason and that's just how it is. 1st Team basketball = 5 kids. 1st Team football = 11 kids. 1st Team baseball = 9 kids. Period. Well done, Beaumont Super Gold committee. Congratulations to all players involved and/or considered. -
Not if AD isn't attached to it. Hardin County schools pay garbage, to begin with... I'd be really surprised if they gave a $10K stipend for head football.

Who will be the favorite to make it to state next season

Not denying that at all... but there's a difference between reloading and replacing senior D1 commits with freshmen. -
It shouldn't be an option. Any school that fails to honor the district schedule given to them by UIL should have no choice but to do this ^.

Didn't Newton just lose several kids to division one football schools? If you think they'll be the same caliber team without them that they were with them... it might be a disappointing year for you. Local coach or not. -
Maybe they should just cancel football altogether. I've actually suggested that before...of course, it didn't go over well.
-
That's Sabine Pass's district and those games are automatically on the schedule as long as SP fields a team. I'm sure they're looking for preseason games... as the ones they had previously either bailed or found someone else to play. Or both.
-
Even more difficult when the list of schools that one would actually play is so small. They aren't looking for games... more like hoping one of the area's small schools has an opening. Or that a local 3A/4A school has a sub varsity group that'll play.

You’re all wrong. It’s because DFW teams have larger enrollments.

Only thing I hate for SeTx schools. Smaller (relatively) schools I mean. It seems like there is an ingrained idea that you can just fly around and scare the other team into turning it over (Kountze, HJ, Silsbee, EC). That may have definitely been the case in the past but now eventually you'll run into just a sound basketball team. When forced into a halfcourt basketball game with a good basketball team it usually doesn't end well. I know people will say that Silsbee had great success with it, and that's true, but with that amount of talent it probably didn't matter. -

Pressing teams have problems with teams that they can't press into points. That style of play is falling by the wayside. -

If they're doing that now then they would've had a field day last weekend. I'd never seen so many "anticipation calls" in my life than what I did a week ago in San Antonio. -
Again.. I have a lot of friends who have a lot of friends in the coaching world. What I HEARD isn't coming from a disgruntled parent or mad employee. Get defensive if you want to.. it won't change my opinions that were formulated because of what I was told by people that I have a lot of trust in. Dang.. you caught me. As much as I like money and free time, I've always wanted to be a head coach of a football program that hasn't been any good in... when was the last time they were good? Ever? No.. making the playoffs doesn't make you good. Even winning a first-round game doesn't make you good anymore.

TODD PAINE NAMED NEW HC AT KOUNTZE

I honestly don't know.. but if I were a betting man I'd probably bet that he won't have much to do with it. Unless they're just extremely shorthanded. Which is possible I guess. -
Charter schools should definitely not be allowed to compete in UIL sports for UIL state championships.. any recruiting should be done specifically by public schools. Like it always has been.
-
Probably true. Not all student B's were 6'10 with an impeccable work ethic / drive during those days either. Just like several years ago 6'4 220 was a giant. Today kids that size are a dime a dozen.

Don't shoot the messenger. It's not WHOever. I would never say anything like this based on the perspective of just one person or even a few people.
