Salaries are set by school boards that are elected by the people of the community. They usually take several things into consideration like experience, success, worth (their view), etc.. Most of these coaches don't make what they deserve considering the time put into the program during the season, summers, other games, weekends... whatever. Make a big deal about an AD's salary and see what kind of coach you end up with. As long as the current one is keeping kids excited and motivated, working towards being successful, and holding players and coaching staff accountable then I would leave it alone.

Every team is eventually subject to a good run of kids..or a bad run of kids.

So...Lumberton was down 2 starters and beat Kountze by 30? Twilight zone.

There is no way I'd suit up more than 10... maybe 12 or so in a tournament. Those coaches need to not lead those kids on into thinking they're anything more than they aren't. Take the best 10 or so that have the best chance of contributing to the varsity one day according to what the varsity coach likes to do and send the rest of them to offseason.

I saw that team several times over those couple of years. Angel could fill it up..no question. But if I were picking a team I'd take Benson first. Several weapons. How is the Shelbyville team this year in comparison? Good players? Athletes? Speed? Size? Mixture? I am always intrigued when a small school has a run of basketball talent.

So is United going to be pretty good? I know there were some "new school growing pains" in football but Central/Ozen always had some hoopers. Are they going to be ok?

Every school is subject to a run of bad players. Sometimes you gotta just ride the wave.

I'm not suggesting that this will happen anytime soon.. but I'm sure at one time LaMarque thought that their reign wouldn't end. Just throwing that out there.

Confidence is more important than preparation. Having said that..it is good to throw in a game or couple that will likely be close contests. It looks to me that this West Hardin game was good for Hardin. Have to learn to play from behind, play with a close lead, play in "no shot" scenarios, play in "no foul" scenarios, play when you're getting fouled because you have the lead, play when you're forced to foul, etc.. A coach knows their team, though. Getting involved in games where you will get blown out or even beat by 25+ will NEVER prepare you for anything. Maybe the coach scheduled wins because they would be few and far between later.. maybe it was either play them or teams that they had no chance to beat. Nobody knows. Err.. none of us does anyway.

I'm pretty disappointed that I didn't catch the whole game of NMSt vs KU on Saturday night. I watched the 2nd half and was happy I did. That ^ is what makes college basketball great.

The kind that doesn't win state titles. At least not in this classification.

When it comes to 3AD2.. Newton is just on another level.

I will concede to agree to this.. mainly because I think that the winning of each Power 5 conference will more than likely have an end result of finishing in the top 8. I will probably not ever agree that it doesn't need expansion, though. Every single year there is a real, very legitimate argument for at least one team that was left out of the top 4 that could/should have been. I'm not talking about being mad. I'm talking about a decision with pretty severe implications concerning who is truly the National Champion. There is a much bigger difference in the picking of teams ranked 2-5 (which could usually be switched around justifiably) and 8-10 (which would play the best team in the country Round 1 anyway..but still much easier to determine). I just want to see it more of a true playoff format. One in which you don't get as much time to prepare for several different opponents. One in which you don't get an entire month to rest, heal, and prepare. One in which you have to stay sharp and focused..and play beat up for consecutive weeks (not 2). I just want to see it done like every other sport. Right now I don't get as excited about the FBS playoff as I do the NCAA BB bracket.. and that shouldn't be the case. December Madness needs to be a thing the way that March Madness is.

Hope you're not a Texans fan. Who is consistently winning the worst division in all of pro football. And..most likely..those will be the top teams to end up there in the end. Just like with everything else. But it doesn't take away the fact that all of the other teams that met the criteria to get in deserve a shot at potentially upsetting someone. That's what it's about. I know I keep coming back to it but I'll say again.. I have a championship ring that I barely wear because of winning three straight games in an 8 team conference tournament that we probably had no business being in. Then went on to upset a team in the first round of a national tournament that we had no business playing in according to pretty much everybody. Maybe that's why I'm a little biased on the issue. I love underdogs. By that knowledge, let's go ahead and take out all of the other district winners that have never made any real runs in football. How many state championships are won out of Region 4? Let's go ahead and not even let them in the playoff bracket.

I would imagine that there are a lot of people that think the 4th seed of a district has no business being in the state playoffs in Texas High School football. Maybe they don't. But 4 seeds win their 1st round game against 1 seeds every single year.

Fine. Imagine if every other division in football decided champions like FBS football does. Pro, FCS, NCAA D2 and D3, NJCAA D1 D2, NAIA, all levels of high school. And I'm sorry but I don't agree. A team that runs the table in the Big10 and wins the Big10 championship most definitely deserves a shot.. even if it's a long shot. In 2007 Boise State beat OU in the Fiesta Bowl. Does that mean I think Boise State needed a shot at it? No. I think that only Power 5 conference champions should have an automatic bid to compete for the FBS National Title. If a team like Northwestern were to beat Ohio St for their conference title then they would still likely be the lowest ranked team in the tournament. Call it a bye week for Bama... unless... anything can happen in FBS football. Bama has been in there with a loss to worse teams. So..

I'm not. Just like I'm not ok with a team having a chance to win it simply because they're undefeated. ie Clemson and Notre Dame. Both of whom had relatively weak schedules but because they happened to run the table are dubbed as playoff teams. I think that schools should be rewarded for tough schedules and then prevailing through tough conferences. Hence the whole reason for my argument. Imagine for one second if all sports picked champions the way that FBS football picks champions. On that.. I choose the side of all other sports.
