  1. At the end of the day I really expected Crosby to blow Jasper out. I figured we would get gashed a few times in the running game hence my 49-14 or 56-14 score prediction. We were a couple of holding penalties off the 56 even with some of the throws we missed. I think that's something Crosby can build on moving forward, not really concerned about that side of the ball. I feel like giving up back to back onside kicks to start the half changed the momentum. That being said, the defense still gave up 36. Jasper probably converted 5 fourth down plays on two or three scoring drives, Crosby has to get off the field in those situations but kudos to Jasper for making those plays. Defense made some nice strip plays on the Jasper running backs and #56 wreaked havoc on Jasper's center causing snap and fumbling issues. Surprisingly the plays I thought hurt the most were third and long/fourth down pass plays. Have to fix that because BH might put it up 40 times. I say we clean up the penalties, stop missing extra points, get off the field on third and fourth down and we're right where we need to be this time of the season. I'll take a W any way it comes though. Once again, good game Jasper. . . Maybe even great from your side of things. *PS: Crosby fans, this looks a lot like the 25-20 win over over Ned to start the '14 season. Let's see how it finishes?
  2. Good game Jasper. Crosby definitely has a lot of work to do before next week. Now... for this long ride.
  3. I mean seriously, if we're going to go the one less turnover route then we can say a couple less holdings and Crosby gets nearly 60. Smh
  4. We scored 42 with multiple tds called back man, I'll take that for not clicking. I don't think any Crosby fan would tell you we were offensively.
  5. With two onside kick recoveries, three tds called back, some ridiculous refereeing and an extra half a quarter played probably. It's all good though, good game. That's a game we have to play cleaner on offense and get 56 in and put it out of doubt. Or at least not give up 5 or 6 fourth down conversions and 36 points.
  6. They were takeaways, the center was getting whipped all night and couldn't make a good snap.
  7. I think we'll get 50 tonight and we're not even clicking yet. I will say I can see why Jasper is salty at their level though.
  8. 29-14 Crosby Halftime
  9. Well, Crosby has 6 tds and a field goal in 16 minutes of play but only has 29 points so far.
  10. Smh, more people buying into the hype I guess? #8 ranked dual-threat in the class with only making one varsity start so far. *On another note, how sick must Humble be right now to have lost the #3 dual-threat in his class and the stud receiver about to probably commit to OU that's at KP right now? Different ball game with those two in Turner.
  11. By the way, I don't care if we play Caney Creek or the Sisters of the Poor. Deep down I worry about every game until it's out of hand or the whistle blows. I'm just not as worried about this one as I will be the one next week.
  12. Yeah, I see what you're saying but when you actually watch the games at those levels you'll see we just have a hard time running the offense when kids like the Twins, Cotton, Netherly, Howard, etc. never play a jv snap or in Williams case never even take a freshman snap. I agree we shouldn't lose 40-14 in any case but that's usually what we look like on jv.
  13. I agree it hurts the smaller school more to move youngsters up. My point is when you take the caliber of sophomore talent off those squads Crosby does it hurts just as much or more. At those lower levels we don't adjust to our talent just to try to win games so if something isn't working we may not necessarily get out of it, instead choosing to run it again and work on it so they have it down by Fridays.
  14. So wait, Manvel was trying to play us again but instead we scheduled Jasper and you think Jasper is the game we really didn't want to play? Probably off on that one. Every time we play a team from SETX, no matter who it is, the sentiment is the same from said team's fan base. Yet we haven't lost to one of them since 2012.
  15. I believe the only thing that has Crosby worried is the 5+ hours of driving we have to do to get there and back.
  16. It's not going to show up as much on the underclassmen because you're only playing one grade of kids usually. If you have a couple of studs or a good class you can make up a lot. When you use nearly 1,700 kids to make a 45 man roster against a school using 700 to make a 45 man roster for varsity teams is where you notice the difference.
  17. The way we throw the ball in our offense it makes a drastic difference when there's a drop off in that ability with the next man up. The sophomore qb that's on varsity has been a stud since 7th grade and I'm not sure how many games they've ever lost with him playing which is why he's up. I imagine he would start for half the teams in the district right now. That's a huge deal not having a player like him at that level of competition, as well as his top receiving target who's also on varsity and will be very good when it's his time.
  18. You should ask Dayton, Barbers Hill and New Caney what those jv games mean? They're 0 indication of what happens the following night. Like CCRed said, the qb that should be on jv is backing up Howard on varsity. Kind of like how our jv record would've been a lot better last year had Howard not been on varsity picking apart Barbers Hill. Varsity has won 51 games the past 5 years while I would be surprised if the jv won more than 25 games. We go through these same comments and explanations every year in reference to Crosby's jv.
  19. Never thoughts I'd say it but I think BH fans are the most realistic on here. Rarely do they overestimate their results on the field, at least for the last couple of years. I think it's something to be said for that.
  20. If Dayton gives up a lot of points in this one I would be kind of worried about district play. Ned has a running back that's close to Santee and a pretty good receiver #22. They have another solid receiver but no players on the level of Kimler, Seay or Hopkins of years past. Are they showing this one on Texan Live?
  21. It's Jasper man. Half these kids have never even heard of it, much less know where it is or what kind of football team they have. I've seen Crosby not ready to play very few times under the new staff but still, you find your extra motivation where it rears its head.
  22. Ah man, you getting rubbed too? Laughing stock of SETX, I move the needle on here bro. I think I used the 2010 year when y'all had two wins and missed one of the others, either way it is significantly less wins against weaker competition for a team that's supposed been great since the Jim Crow era. I use Maxpreps and it has y'all at 43. That's what happens trying to rush posts before a 2am meeting. I can admit that, you're wrong and double down on it though. In other words I over-researched it and went back too far looking at what is supposedly this great team that pre-dates women's suffrage. The point about the NFL and the NCAA players we've signed is asking if it's all hype why do some many recruiters, talent evaluators and pollsters fall for it every year? Not one time have I seen Crosby walk on a field and the other team say, "You know, with all this hype we're going to go ahead and let you have this one." You're going to find out all about it, I promise.
  23. I love #9. Reminds me a lot of Trevor Larkin. Love receivers who don't mind contact, #9 has had a few catches this preseason where I'm not sure dbs were happy to be on the business end of things.
  24. Cotton was an elite game manager that led by example, he had a bunch of weapons and a nasty defense to compliment him. He was a great runner and solid decision maker, he was a little short on arm strength and I think his height caused some inaccuracy at times when he threw from the pocket due to line of sight issues. As far as just flat out throwing the football there's really no comparison between the two. The only kid I've ever seen throw the ball like Jaiden is Kellen Haynes who threw for 4,000 plus his senior year and signed with North Texas. Howard's arm talent and belief in his ability causes him to throw the ball into spots other kids normally wouldn't but I think you have to live with that. I'm sure after he picks y'all apart you'll have something to say about a throw he missed to try to prove your point when every single person that has watch pretty much every single game both have played are on here is telling you otherwise.
  25. Kind of my point, I didn't have the weights so I didn't respond but on the left side alone with Chase Todd and Danny G I would think averages in the 285-290 range.
