Nederland doesn't 'impress' fans bc there is no 'WOW' factor for Nederland; No twins, no great QB, no M. Quarante. Defensive HS coaches can game plan to stop 'the twins' or Quarante, but have a bigger challenge facing a well balanced team like Nederland. Look at Alabama, for example. Do they have ONE 'wow' player? No. They have many (equal) weapons on offense and a dominating Defense, yet they will likely win another National Championship this year. I'm not saying Nederland will win state this year, but it's mentalities like this comment which leaves fans scratching their heads after Nederland beats them. Coach Neumann and Nederland are not in the business to impress, they are in the business of 'Winning'!  ;)

Nederland doesn't have a 2000 yard passer or an elusive running back with exceptional speed. Ned doesn't have 6'3" WRs who can run, jump, etc. Since our offense doesn't have ONE dominant player, other teams/fans aren't as impressed. That's what makes Big Ned so dangerous, IMO. Other team's can't put their finger on why they should get beat by us,  bc when they look at Ned, they say to themselves that nobody makes them scared. There's not a Montana Quarante, there's not a Ricky Fisk, no set of twins in our backfield or a Mike Evans at WR who is 'unstoppable'. Then they look at our defense, give us respect, BUT say, 'but we've got a good QB who will shred their secondary' or 'they've never seen a running back like our guy'. As Nederland fans we just have to let the haters hate on our 'Average' team, then find out the hard way when the game is over, and they can't understand who on Ned's team beat them. It's a team game, but too many casual fans judge a team based on superstars. Since Nederland doesn't have ONE that stands out, other teams will continue to look past us.  8)

Too many people think they know more than coaches know what is best for their program. I was not at the Champ game, but you can't blame a group of kids for being excited for winning a game. As long as they were not taunting our boys/fans, im okay with KIDS being excited. Even if Ned Fresh had not forfeited the game, WB JV would have played OF JV for the 3rd place game, so they would have played Saturday regardless.

Yes. They are a contender, but there are plenty of good team's in the region who will give them heck: Terry KW Park Dawson Humble NEDERLAND Ozen FB Marshall Wheatley Brazosport Any of these team's could reach the state tourney, IMO.

[/quote] Ned Freshman defeated a couple of JV team's in this tourney by 40/50 points. Just imagine the score against a Freshman team from those same schools-not pretty. Also, Ned entered a Freshman 'B' team to allow them more PT. This allows the Ned kids to improve by playing older kids from JV. I like the move by Coach E. WB JV gave them a good game, but nobody else. If the Ned Freshmen play their own JV team, it's a lose-lose situation, IMO. Also, As 5 on 5 mentioned, they play each other every day in practice. They both need 'fresh blood' to compete against. The matchup between Ned JV and WB JV should be close, not sure about the Ned Fresh game Vs. OF JV...

Know nothing about Goodrich, but I know BS played well in Nederland a few weeks ago. They should take this game.

Point spreads in a preseason basketball game are hard to predict. This one is more difficult bc Silsbee is missing players. Size never seems to be an issue with Silsbee bc of their style of play. They beat a huge Brookshire Royal team last year with speed and quickness. BR had 3 starters over 6'5" who could all play. I think Central will take it, but closer than the 15 pt spread AAW is predicting. I say Central by 10 or less.
