The position coaches generally have headsets and are in on every aspect of the game. I have also not seen many “key” position coaches who were not capable of “play calling” at anytime. If a position coach got promoted to coordinator it is because they are fully capable and have been heavily involved in all aspects of the game and game planning.

Agreed, a”lights out defense” definitely gives the offense more opportunities to score. I have even seen scenarios where a “lights out offense” helps the defenses. Have also noticed that many State Champions frequently have a “good defense, good offense and a QB that can throw the ball”.
