  1. I watched him get shut down by a mediocre (at best) Coldspring JV. If anyone knows anything, they know what JV players do at the 3A and 2A levels. Coaches keep their jobs based upon varsity results. There are not enough coaches to coach JV separately and there is not enough time in the day for JV players to get the same reps and work as varsity players.
  2. And in this case, the answer is: "He was not good enough to be a varsity QB on Woodville and really not most 3A teams". He was a JV QB who was able to win most of his JV games, but he struggled at times against 3A JV competition. Just not sure how he received his "D1 anointing". ***However, I expect him to be a good QB in the future.
  3. He may have been held back because he was not good enough to play varsity or at least was not good enough to be a starting QB on varsity. They may have wanted him to keep getting QB reps that would have been unavailable on varsity. Definitely was not on the level with the varsity QB.
  4. Anahuac is the favorite hands down in 2024.
  5. Barrier also played well on "Varsity".
  6. Definitely was not his performance on JV. But there have been many players get much better into their soph-sr years. At this moment he is holding similar offers to Jett Suratt. I am anxious to see how he looks on Varsity this year.
  7. Did I hear that Barrier picked up a D1 offer this week?
  8. "San Antonio Christian"
  9. That is what I thought but I figured you folks would be able to find it for sure. Was a little tougher back then with fewer teams in the playoffs.
  10. How far did they go with Granger?
  11. I heard Franklin had 15 that could go 7 innings.
  12. *** Clearly those D1 colleges see it different. Their opinions are the ones that count.
  13. He is definitely a good looking player and I have no doubt that he is going to be a good QB in the future, but I find it shocking that he has those offers. I would expect a D1/P4 player to dominate 3A JV competition and he did not (at least to the level of that caliber of recruit).
  14. Was he the JV QB this past year?
  15. Talent pool is on the rise. Big things coming
  16. This should be a year for Jasper to win the district but WOS is going to be on the comeback with their young group. WOS will be back to normal next year. HF might be the top competition at the moment. Not sure about Silsbee.
  17. He played well and had the attention of every team in the district. They will be glad to see him go
  18. No doubt they spend a lot of time training and competing but cheerleading would not exist without football. Even the schools that don’t have football and still have cheerleading are supported institutionally by the schools that do have football. Cheerleading is part of the “football game day experience”
  19. And also basketball and track. Basketball had losing records 6 out of the last 10 years. Everything is normal there. Volleyball has had horrible years before and so has softball. Probably should make the title: “what happened to Jasper baseball and girls basketball”
  20. Is it going to be ready for the upcoming season? Seems like they have a ways to go.
  21. Yep, his feelings were hurt and he wants to try and detract from what is happening now. Needs to move on.
  22. I accounted for it. They made it to the 3rd round. That is not the 4th round. Make sense?
  23. You mean “losing season success”? Yes they were very successful at having losing seasons in basketball. In the good years they were mediocre. Baseball is down. Track is the same. Football is better. The only thing that is worse than normal is baseball. I think the baseball coach is actually from the previous regime.
