  3. Please tell me this is a joke. Why on earth, would this kid play football if he tried that hard to get out of spring training?
  4. Great day to be a RANGERS fan!!!
  5. Ty Cobb's Top 5 Baseball Quotes 5. "I recall when Cobb played a series with each lef a mass of raw flesh. He had a temperature of 103 and the doctors ordered him to bed for several days, but he got three its, stole three bases, and won the game." GRANTLAD RICE 4. "When I get the record, all it will make me is the player with the most hits. I'm also the player with the most at bats and the most outs. I never said I was a greater player than Ty Cobb." PETE ROSE 3. "Cobb is a prick. But he sure can hit. God Almighty, that man can hit." BABE RUTH 2. "Get in front of the ball, you won't get hurt. That's what you've got a chest for, young man." JOHN MCGRAW 1. "The difference between the old ballplayer and the new ballplayer is the jersey. The old ballplayer cared about the name on the front. The new ballplayer cares about the name on the back." STEVE GARVEY
  6. "Statistics are like bikinis...they show a lot, but not everything." LOU PINIELLA
  7. Orangefield wins in 7 innings.
  8. Good pitching (BC) vs good hitting (HF) I think this will be a 2 run game in favor of BC.
  9. I'll take the Hawks.
  10. BC will win by 7 or 8.
  11. I'll take Kirbyville.
  12. I'll take the Lions.
  13. I'll take the Horns.
  14. It's the place where pop-ups turn into HR's. I hate it!!!
  15. Have to go with the Cardinals in this one. BC just too strong for most of the district this year.
  16. Winning programs BUILD better athletes and UTILIZE their talent better. That is why they win. Coach Hooks at West Orange and Coach Barbay at Newton are both masters at this. For years I have heard about how Newton year after year "has" better athletes than their competition and implies that they are naturally so. The reason is not "breeding" or genetics. It's in the program that the athletes Newton has are put through. I think West Orange has the same work ethic for their program. Other districts could learn from these two programs. Very well said!!! An athlete will be an athlete no matter what program he is in, but a PROGRAM will make the athlete a better athlete.
  17. Does anyone have any updates on the HJ game?
  18. I wish there were more people that thought the same way that you do!!!
  19. Congrats to the Hawks. Good luck to both teams in the playoffs!!!
  20. 1. My youth baseball teams were the astros, the Cubs, and the astros again. 2. I'm a RANGERS and Cubs fan. I hate the astros!!! 3. I've hung out with Mickey Hatcher a few times, after games, and loved all of his stories. 4. I've been to the following ballparks: astrodome, minutemaid, Dell Diamond, Arlington Stadium, The Rangers Ballpark in Arlington, Dr. Pepper Ballpark, Wrigley Field, Miller Park, Turner Field, Jacobs Field, Great American Ballpark, Aviator Field, Camden Yards, Prince George's Stadium, Ripken Stadium, and Nationals Park. 5. I've been to many(over 30) professional baseball games and have never caught a HR or foul ball.
