  1. Well blackflag... as much as I would love to say the Dogs, I was actually thinking WO-S. There linebacking group is by far the best in the area... if not the state... 4A - Central 3A - WOS But after Jasper beats WO-S in Week 3, they will take the top defensive spot... : : ;D
  2. So we're 2 games into the season with Silsbee blowing out a Houston Davis team with their starters pulled to start the 2nd half and then losing to a solid Diboll team. BC has played 2 winless squads....you're reaching. Anyone doubting Silsbee not being in top three is just plain silly but no need in banging BC for their progress. These kids have been through a pretty big ordeal here of late and are searching for a little respect. There will be some casualties along the way and hopefully we will be fortunate enough to represent our district no matter what the order is. Be careful who you peck on it just might draw blood. GO BIG RED! BC beating Silsbee would not be an upset it would just be another win. WOS is the King for now and that would be an upset. So you don't want anyone "banging BC for their progress" , but you sure have no problem "banging" OF, do you? :
  3. 5'5" with cleats on... LOL ;D
  4. Maybe I miscounted, but I counted 31 when they walked on the field for the flip. I even counted twice just to be sure.
  5. 1. Vidor- I believe Vidor just may win this district. With defenses these days built for speed with smaller lineman in order to better defense the spread. Vidor will be hard to deal with due to that large line that is experienced and they will negate defensive speed by going right at you. I think they will be able to move the ball on any team in that district. Their defense is not bad and will be sufficient enough to slow other teams and keep the ball in their methodical offenses hands for most of the game. 2. LCM- Yes, I believe they really are that much better. They looked like a different program last night and looked good on both sides of the ball. They are very quick, both ways. Of the 3 teams mentioned, they are the fastest hands down. They have a competitor at QB who is experienced and is a leader. They have good recievers and a tough running back with good size. The defense is fast and physical and they fly to the ball. I don't think it's out of the question for LCM to take the third playoff spot, maybe even second if things fall just right. I do not think they are the first place team... yet. 3. Nederland- I just don't think this is going to be Nederlands year, especially after losing Bellows, that is huge! I'm sure the new guy is a good one, Ned always has quality QB's, but the experience they lost with Bellows is not something you can replace. I think Nederland will be competitive and they may take the 2nd or 3rd spot, it just depends on how the ball bounces in pivotal games. But, to me, Ned doesn't have the size or the speed they usually do. In our game, I felt like we could have beat them deep just about whenever we wanted. They simply could not run with us and, on offense, their recievers couldnot run away from us. Their line couldn't keep us out of the backfield. The most promising thing I saw from Nederland was that the run defense looks like it is much better than last year. I know if you are a Nederland fan, that's doesn't put your team in a real positive light, but I think you were wanting honest opinion from what we saw. I saw all 3 of these games and that is my take. Edit: after watching the Central/WB game on TV, I really feel like this will be one of those years where no one goes unscathed. Even if Vidor does win the district, I will be surprised if they do it with no losses. Central has good size on their line and could be the team to slow the Vidor run game. In the end, it will be, "PNG beat LCM, who beat Ned, who beat Central, who beat PNG... etc".
  6. LOL...LCM has more of everybody on varsity than WOS does. I was merely commenting that it is strange for WOS to have sophomores playing on varsity, and especially that many. Looked to me that both teams had about the same number of people dressed to play. I counted 33 dressed to play for LCM. I agree, last night, including 2 hurt players for WOS I counted 31 players and 33 for LCM (that doesn't include any injured players)
  7. I completely agree with you Gun. I'm not sure what all of this negative talk about the team is all about, but you guys need to realize that you have a new QB, RB, WR, couple of linemen. New corners, defensive ends... CHILL OUT. We will be fine. It's the second freakin game of the year! We are not going to be mistake free, guys. I see a whole bunch of potential on the field and they will get better every game. The guy who said we are a "one man team" is just nuts... I was very impressed with our QB. He is going to make some mistakes, but for his second varsity start, I thought he did very well. I know some of you wanted to beat LCM 90-0, but LCM is a MUCH, MUCH improved team from years past. We won, we got better, end of story. We have a lot of improving to do, but I saw some flashes of brilliance last night on both sides. I feel like, by the end of the year, this team will be better than last years. Another statement from a Bear fan that I completely agree with is that one of our STARS do not appear to be giving the effort they should be. They may need to realize that a "verbal agreement" is not binding for EITHER side... If he tries to coast through this year he may end up somewhere different...
  8. Whoa... tap the brakes a little. WOS had 5 freshman moved up to the JV including their stand out QB. I'm sure Nederland is good, but you need to consider that. It makes a difference.
  9. WOS- Reggie Garrett, Jr.
  10. Next year is the year!!!! This year is as good as any and we may never have MORE speed than we do now. We will always be fast.
  11. The game is played because it is good for Orange. We, the fans, get to get on here and talk about it all week and it gets the community buzzing. I think it's a necessity and it will give LCM a good measuring stick, in a REAL game, about how far they've come. I wish them luck and I hope it's a good game, just not too good of a game. ;D The biggest thing is that I hope both sides realize that they are friends playinig a game and they don't let emotions get out of hand and each team come away healthy. After this game, we will all be pulling for one another so hopefully, this game doesn't impact either teams rest of the season negatively.
  12. No doubt, it wreaks of someone trolling for bites.
  13. Seriously? LCM has a smallish line, they do not have the hosses up front to run right at the Stangs.
  14. ;D No, if you have 7 turnovers you'll get beat a lot worse than 21 points...
  15. While I am proud of the progress that the Bears have made, they are not Nederland.
  16. Diboll will not be a test either, but Lumberton will be.
  17. My personal observation is that Silsbee was not tested by Davis. Davis had a once in 10 year run of talent the last couple of years and will not be very good for a while. That said, you can only play the people on your schedule, so that is not a knock toward Silsbee. They did what they were supposed to do to a subpar team and beat them badly. I also agree with the above post. In recent years, the Silsbee/WOS game really doesn't matter who you played or how you looked. It's become a rivalry and you can throw out the records. I saw Silsbee play Kelly last year. I would have sworn we would beat them by 50. You just never know with rivalry games and teenagers.
  18. The topic of discussion was Nederland "impressions". Everyone is giving theirs. I don't think anyone is "judging" anything, just giving what was ask.
  19. I read where folks are saying that Crouch will know what WOS is going to do. I don't think Randy has ever coached against a Toby Foreman ran offense. However, being on the WOS sideline for several years, I would think the WOS staff may have a clue of what Crouch will do.
  20. I think nederlands defense is fiesty and has some potential. They bowed up a few times and made some big stops. I don't know how the offense will be if Bellows is gone for the season. They did not move the ball much after he left the game, but that is a bad situation to be thrown into. WOS just had way to much speed.
  21. Four of the Sophomores actually start. As for the JV, the QB, RB and 4 on the defense are Freshman.
  22. My prayers go out to the Bellows kid. Very good athlete. Hopefully, it isn't as bad as it looked last night. I don't think the pressure got better on him in the second half. He just started doing more with his feet and made things happen. Bought himself time. He's a good little QB. Hope he comes back OK.
  23. Well it's not completely crazy to think that a JV and a Varsity squad may be comparable at their own levels. The gene pool is the same for both teams. Not this year. And that statement is wrong in general. Many times, a strong soph class will find it's way on the varsity level, depleting the JV. Good try though. Not really. That DOES go both ways because WOS will have several Sophomores and Jr's on the varsity as well. Which include both our corners, QB and RB. The JV is hard to figure because of this. Usually you get a good gauge at the freshman level because most coaches leave the Freshman teams together. For some reason, though, Hooks has several Freshman up on the JV. Mainly the QB.
  24. Gas, Looks like our JV didn't show up. Looks like it... they better find them quick! I hear the Ned Fresh defense is pretty good.
