  1. Well boys and girls... whatever is going to happen will start. Hurricane Hunter aircraft just measured 146 mile an hour sustained winds.
  2. A lot of weather gurus use UKMET and/or EURO models. Latest EURO shows landfall near PA as a major storm. for what that’s worth…
  3. Yep, mandatory evacuation in the morning. I am guessing that Bridge city and most of orange county will soon follow. Everybody does not have this opportunity but if you have a place to go and can get out, try to beat the rush. Then let’s hope this thing turns and people can complain how about evacuating for no reason.
  4. I think that Port Arthur just issued a mandatory evacuation beginning at 6 AM in the morning.
  5. I just got out of a meeting with area emergency management and the National Weather Service. Until it clears the islands good, it is still up in the air what its track will be. It “could” hit Port Arthur as a Cat 3 and push a huge storm surge. But.... it may not and not just because they change but this one is giving different signals (my words, not NWS). Another conference tonight and one tomorrow morning. The one in the morning is probably really going to tell the tale. The problem always is the amount of time it takes to evacuate.
  6. And the instant Kraft MaC......
  7. I have come to the conclusion that I wish I was young and single.....
  8. And I am reluctant to recommend much because people’s tastes vary greatly. I am fairly certain you would love these if you like to eats beans. I will say that they are just beans just like Navy, Pinto, Kidney, etc. But they are very good if you love beans. I have yet to have anyone try them that didn’t love them. I have had a comment or two like, they are very good but they taste like beans. Well, yeah... they don’t taste like fresh Gulf shrimp or filet mignon. They are beans.
  9. Cook them any way you eat beans or use then in any recipe. Substitute for red, pinto, etc I cooked them very basic the first time so as to get a better taste rather than covering them up with 3 meats and 10 spices. I did like a medium onion, a little bacon for the fat and salt/pepper. They were great. When I cook red or anasazi beans, I usually smash a lot of them to make it a lot thicker, almost like Popeye’s RBR.
  10. I just looked at Amazon. Those things have doubled in price. I wonder if Covid related...... It looks like the only semi- cheaper way to buy them is direct from the company but in bulk. 20 pounds delivered in a burlap bag is $50 or $2.50 a pound delivered. That is about what it is a pound at HEB if they still have them. I use that many so I don’t mind. My friend buys them in 40 pound burlap but cooks 2-3 pounds at a time. I need to run to HEB and see v if they are still there.
  11. Amazon or they had them at HEB on 365 in PA. I don’t know since the Covid food rush. They are about twice as expensive as regular beans or maybe a little more. The look like a cross between a black eye pea, navy bean and red bean. When they cook the mostly turn red so people think they are red/kidney beans. They are milder than red or pinto beans, usually cook in about 90 minutes without soaking and...... they don’t give you gas. They are named after the Anasazi Indians who cultivated them. Supposedly extinct 500 years ago, they were claimed to be discovered in caves in the dessert Southwest. I have read that some scientists dispute that saying that beans cannot germinate after about 50 years. They believe that some of the Indian tribes were still growing them around the early 1900s and their extinction was simply incorrect.
  12. No order.. Gumbo Tikka Masala Budae Jjigae (Korean Army Stew) Zuppa Toscana Chili sous vide steaks red beans and rice or ... anasazi beans (probably best beans on the planet) Pozole Apple Dumplings Breakfast casserole Chicken and Dumplings
  13. Texas law (with each state being different) says that if there is a riot and you remain there, you are guilty of Riot and can be charged with a B misdemeanor (up to 180 days in jail). Then it goes on to say that you can additionally be charged with the most serious crime that was committed by anyone in the riot. So if someone sets fire to a car and you are there as part of the riot, they can charge you with felony arson without having to prove that you said the fire. You fail to disperse from the scene of a riot.
  14. Yes, go $1 but people would raise heck. They want the government to deliver mail for almost nothing but then complain when the post office loses money. I had an idea a few years ago and still think it might work. First class mail is now delivered six days a week. I say deliver mail to half of the addresses on Monday, Wednesday and Friday and the other half on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday. You could get rid of half the delivery people. We would have to wait one extra day for our meal. Big deal. If it is really important you can send it for $15 by express or fax it or send it in an email. But, this is not a thread about the post office. I think it is a lousy example of government inefficiency because they are forced to compete against private industry and could only charge 5% for the same delivery. I don’t think that UPS can deliver letters to Guam for a little over $1.
  15. An officer in a different state was wrong!! Then he was almost immediately arrested!! Let me go burn down some businesses in my neighborhood and shoot some people!! Logic for some people....
  16. That isn’t really a fair comparison. A government operation is hardly ever efficient but the USPS has to deliver a letter to Guam for $1.20. If these innovative and highly profitable companies like FE and UPS can or will deliver a piece of mail to Guam for $1.20, I would like to know about it. Forget overseas. A first class letter from FL to CA is 55 cents. Let one off the contract carriers deliver a letter 2,500 miles for 55 cents.
  17. I see where Minneapolis police sent out an email to one district to be prepared to be robbed. Carjackings are up 46% over last year at this time and robberies are up 36%. The criminals are taking over. I am sure crime will be dramatically reduced just as soon as the social workers they are hiring to replace the police move in and explain the problem to the criminals with all the guns.
  18. A police standard..... along with Underdog.
  19. I have no issue with profanity. I worked around 100+ police office for over 35 years… I’ve definitely heard a few words. It is on occasion humorous and sometimes gets the point across. But, if I was talking about your statement that I am quoting, it is acceptable to say I don’t agree with you or even I think you have a stupid opinion (but I don’t). But I should be able to get my point across without saying... you are one stupid #%+€ ?€+=. There is a difference.
  20. I own or moderate 4 forms. Each of them has a no profanity rule. I understand doing a face-to-face heated argument or even some casual conversations, people would let profanity slip even unintentionally. I have no idea why people cannot type out a response and do so without using some kind of profanity. A hunting forum that I belong to, people will use the £%#@ disguise are they were actually type out the word knowing that the forum program will block it with ****.
  21. I’ve done that. Click post..... and poof.
  22. Yeah, but..... They rules that the Eighth Amendment applies but then ruled that the $63 parking fine was not excessive. So the guy won but he lost. They did rule that the additional approximate $120 for late fees was excessive but didn’t say how much. Perhaps $100 total fine and late fees would be acceptable instead of $181 So the ruling was... the city has to go by the 8A!!! ... but they did on the fine. I guess if they try to charge $200 for a parking meter violation, the federal court may overturn it.
  23. Yeah, I think you grasped the folly that I did. Why think it is so dangerous that you need to carry a rifle but bring a girl that probably can’t even move herself around. Got to feel horrible for her
  24. I don’t know if the shooting was justified or not but looking at a comment in another forum..… A person was defending the now deceased by saying he needed to protect his quadruple amputee fiancé. That was why he was carrying a rifle. My question is, if you are so worried about the safety of a quadruple amputee, why would you bring her to a protest where you had to carry a rifle in order to feel safe? If I am the caretaker of a person who is absolutely restricted to a wheelchair and almost cannot take care of herself, why would I bring her to such an event that in my opinion was so dangerous that I had to carry an AK 47 for protection? Then look at the statements Foster made on camera. He was looking for trouble pretty much in his own words. That does not mean he was wrong, that does not mean that he should have died and hopefully the investigation will find some good answers. I believe that Foster is at least partly to blame for his own death.
  25. You don’t need to be a lawyer to read the law. Mostly you just have to watch for “and” and “or”. When I teach that at LIT I call those the two biggest words in a law. You have to watch out because some of it is state law but much of it is federal law. For example this law says you have to fly more than 400 feet above the ground to comply with state law however a federal law prohibits flight over 400 feet. Also federal law prohibits flight above people. Basically you could almost not fly over a stadium without flying over people. As it says in that law, if you were doing it with consent of the people running to Stadium then it is OK. Mostly if you were a commercial pilot and you’re contracted by the management, you can fly over a sporting event..... as Long as you don’t fly over a person other than a person affiliated with the drone operation. You can get waivers from the FAA for much of what would otherwise be violations such as flying at night. You have to apply for the waiver that goes through Washington DC l. It’s not really a form. You have to explain how you’ll mitigate the danger to the public for each potential action that could happen. I have applied for and gotten two waivers from the FAA for the police department. I can fly drones for them at night and I can fly them in some limited airspace near the Jack Brooks airport. There are other things that may be coming soon such as a device similar to a transponder on an airplane that identifies the drone when in flight. It is also being suggested of lifting some of the night flight prohibitions as long as certain conditions are met and flight over people as long as they have a safety device such as a parachute that deploys if the drone is disabled.
