  1. Here are BH96's hog pics. Nice pig.
  2. I certainly catch a lot more saltwater fish consistently. I have been saltwater fishing where I went home because I was tired of catching fish. I mean really tired. My arms hurts and I did not want to reel in any more fish. I have never been freshwater fishing where I was tired of reeling them in. I have been tired of bass fishing (especially in tournaments) because it felt like I just tossed a 9 inning ball game with all the casts. It was never from putting so many fish in the boat that I was physically exhausted.
  3. I had two people say that it was a great series. Kind of soap opera-ish but interesting. One described what has been going on so far this year. Well I watched this week and thought that it was pretty boring. I then spoke to both friends and they both said the same thing. In their opinion, this week was kind of lame compared to what has been shown so far. I am not sure if I will watch it again but maybe I can give it one more try.
  4. Freshwater is usually more laid back and usually has much prettier scenery. I have had some great memories fishing in freshwater from one of my bass boats on the big lakes to fishing in the canals around my house to fly fishing ponds around the Golden Triangle. For the pure fun of putting fish in the boat however, saltwater is head and shoulders above freshwater. I have never caught more than 100 bass in one outing but I have caught (but not kept) that many specks. I have caught saltwater species over 150 pounds and can fill a freezer if I want to stock up on fish for the year or for a big fish fry. Freshwater has its place but it is not even in the same league with saltwater.
  5. Now that is a beautiful high school facility. I wonder what the average household income is in the Cy-Fair area.
  6. Yes. Having a pretty backdrop adds nothing to the game. The box seats are nice but I don't see why you have to build that stadium to have box seats no more than you need something that extravagant to have field turf. Nederland's crowd filled up most of Stallworth Stadium's home side last week. If they had played in that pretty new stadium, there would have been about 2,000 less seats on the home side. Do I want to drive an extra 30-45 minutes in order so see a pretty stadium and then have 2,000 less seats to choose from? No, I will gladly have Nederland play in Stallworth.
  7. Mid-County. Collectively it is the cities of Nederland, Port Neches and Groves with the two high schools being Nederland HS and PN-G HS. They are just often lumped into one community and/or school in conversations, usually by someone from Port Arthur or Beaumont.
  8. Awesome looking stadium. Too bad that they spent several million dollars and didn't build a seating capacity any bigger than Nederland's and smaller than PN-G's. That seems to be a trend. Build a very nice looking stadium but cut back on seats and use the money to make it look pretty. I would rather a lot of good seats as opposed to a pretty entrance or a backdrop that looks like Disneyland. Give me a big stadium and field turf and I would be happy. I would hate to see the local school districts waste millions of dollars so that they can have a photo op to put on the internet.
  9. What is a Polaroid? Is that some kind of antique camera?
  10. All of the student participants deserve respect whether it be the players, band, cheerleaders, etc. All of them started over the summer in the heat practicing for hours. All of them showed up on game day. It is the same for students that played/performed for winning schools and losing schools. They are all winners by the fact that they showed up when others did not. Some fans might not deserve respect and some of them bring discredit to their schools. Let's not confuse the fans with the players that have the guts to go through the practices and spend their hours getting ready when they could be taking it easy. Congratulations to all the students that showed up and gave us something to look forward to and to cheer for.
  11. He is at home trying to figure out how Nederland is going into the 12th week of the season, after all, Vidor beat Nederland.
  12. The Beaumont Enterprise reported that Nederland held GP to a negative (-) 20 yards in the second half.
  13. Realistically, LC by three or four touchdowns. Emotionally, I hope that Neumann and his Dogs can pull another one out of the hat.
  14. I was on the 50 on the 10th row. I should have looked over my shoulder.
  15. etbu, You were right about GP's lack of fan support. After an 8-2 season and going into the playoffs (and a short drive), you would think they could bring a crowd. What ashame it is for their players, band, etc.
  16. A lot of discussion goes on about the best coaching staffs and there are some good ones in southeast Texas. Larry Neumann has the reputation of being one of those coaches and some consider him to have the best staff in the area. This is especially true with the talent level that comes out of Nederland. You won't see any D1 recruiters beating down the door to the Nederland field house year after year. Games like tonight just go to further Neumann's reputation though. Five weeks ago, Nederland was given up for dead by most people in the area and even by a few Bulldog fans. They were 1-4 and 0-2 in district. All they have done since then is win 5 out of 6 games and completely blow away their bi-district opponent. This is the 10th year in a row that Nederland has won their bi-district game. Larry Neumann gears up the Bulldog's season aiming for the playoffs. They play a tough preseason schedule and makes a lot of changes heading into district trying to find the best combination of players. They always seem to be peaking near playoff time. Nederland will be a heavy underdog next week and they should be. Lamar Consolidated is stacked with talent and has really put it on most of the teams they have played this year. It would not surprise me if Nederland gets hammered next week. They need to create some big breaks just to stay in the game. As long as Larry Neumann is the coach however, there is always that possibility.
