  1. For a few years they have had this program in about 8 counties from near San Antonio down toward the coast near Victoria. I have talked to biologists from down there and they said the program was poorly received when it first went into effect. It became popular fairly quickly when hunters started seeing their deer herds have more quality. I wish they would make the change for the whole state. Most managed leased have those rules (or more restrictive) anyway. It kind of forces the rest of the hunters to comply with common sense wildlife management. There is no point killing a 6 month old or 18 month old deer and that accounts for a huge portion of the deer killed by hunters.
  2. Whew. I hate hunting in shorts for opening weekend.
  3. But WO-S has been a school about 40 years less than Nederland or PN-G.
  4. There are still a few critical games to be be playbe but IF that is the way it ended, it would play out like this: Vidor beat Nederland who beat PN-G who beat Vidor. No team beat the two other teams so head-to-head is out. Now for the points: Nederland lost to Vidor by 4 points_____-4 Nederland beat PN-G by 7 points______+7 for a total of +3 PN-G lost to Nederland by 7 points______-7 PN-G beat Vidor by 7 points___________+7 for a total of 0 Vidor beat Nederland by 4 points______+4 Vidor lost to PN-G by 7 points__________-7 for a total of -3 Nederland +3 PN-G______0 Vidor_____-3 Nederland goes in the point spread.
  5. There was the coin flip from last year but that was because all of the tied teams had not played each other. Unless the 22-4A executive committee has changed the rules this year, it is head-to-head first and then common points between the tied teams. There is a maximum amount of points allowed per game. I think it is 16 points. For example, if it came down to points, the LC-M 42-0 win over PN-G would only go down at +16 points instead of +42.
  6. If PN-g can knock of Central and Dayton back-to-back, then they deserve to be in the playoffs. I don't see it happening but I will sure back them up in the playoffs if they can pull it off.
  7. This is quite an interesting thread. LCMV starts out by saying that they should and hopefully will beat Lumberton. Then LCMV asks if Lumberton can help them (after stating that they will beat Lumberton first) by beating Nederland. Luv Ya Blue then said that they will do all they can for LC-M. The only problem is, that to help LC-M, Lumberton must lose to them. Is Lumberton really going to try and help LC-M get into the playoffs?
  8. I notice that a lot of people on forums get overly sensitive toward a community or school due to rantings of someone. Every community has people that talk smack, rant about others and generally create mayhem. I don't see how that reflects on the community unless a majority of people from there are doing it. In most cases it is just the people that come out of the woodwork and get on their soapbox since they won't have to defend it face to face. With all the smack talk toward Nederland this year from Vidor and LC-M, I don't assume that their fans are bad people from bad communities. They are not any different than Nederland fans. Anonymous forums just give people the chance to open their mouth and show how little they actually know.
  9. Yes, she did add the part about winning state that year as well as the part about always supporting them. In both circumstances, they are obvious reasons that PN-G will prevail in two weeks.
  10. I am more worried about Dayton's defense more than their offense or their running backs. If Nederland can get their ground game untracked against the Bronco defense, it will keep Dayton's offense off of the field and can at least give the Bulldogs a shot at the game. Also, maybe if Dayton turned it over about half a dozen times like they did against Central....... If Dayton's strong defense can stop Nederland's line from opening holes for Mosley and Gutierrez, then the Bulldogs might be in for a long night.
  11. If it 45-7 Dayton, it will be closer than most people think.
  12. It seems like there have been three or four teams that were able to say, "if we just win out". The problem is, other than Dayton, everyone else keeps shooting themselves in the foot everytime they are in position to just win out.
  13. Lumberton has obviously made some improvements and is a competitive team. They made some good strides this year and can hopefully look to better things in the future. They can still play a roll in who goes to the playoffs. A few weeks ago, many people outside of Lumberton pointed out that Raider's wins in preseason did not relate to success in district. While other teams were playing a preseason filled with some very good teams, Lumberton was playing some programs that were no so established as good teams. A few Raider fans pointed with giddiness how some of the 22-4A teams with long playoff histories were 0-3 or 1-2 in preseason. That does not matter except it is a lousy predictor of what happens in district. A couple of Lumberton fans took it upon themselves to then proclaim a run at the district title, a sure playoff team, etc. It almost takes away from the good improvements they have made in the program. It looks like Coach Creuder has the team moving in the right direction. I think some of their fans should not have been looking for a district title just yet however. Give the guy time to get his program in order and then make some noise.
  14. I think I have this playoff race figured out from Nederland's point of view. IF the Dogs can beat Lumberton two weeks from now (in Bulldog Stadium), then the only thing that stops Nederland is back-to-back upsets by PN-G over Central and Dayton. Assuming (I know, never assume) that Nederland beats Lumberton, then the Bulldogs would end up no worse than 4-3. If LC-M wins out against Lumberton and Vidor, they end up at 4-3. If PN-G pulls off one upset, they end up 4-3. If all three teams end up tied, Nederland would go because in head-to-head play between Nederland/PN-G/LC-M, they would have beaten both teams they are tied with.
  15. There were a lot of lessons tonight for people that like to play comparative scores. You cannot tell how your team will do against another team by looking at the scores from teams they played previously. It just does not work although these forums are filled with such nonsense. Let's see, Ozen hasn't won a game and has generally been pushed around in district so Lumberton will stay on track for that magical playoff spot. OOPS! Nederland lost to Vidor. Nederland them beat PN-G. After beating Nederland, Vidor plays a very close (should have won) game against Central. They should not have any problem with PN-G right?. OOPS! Nederland lost to Vidor. Nederland them played PN-G a very close game. LC-M really smacked PN-G around pretty good. They should then do the same thing to Nederland who seems to be an equal team to PN-G. OOPS! Great win by the Indians tonight. Going into the 9th week of the season, you are still in the playoff hunt. Good luck.
  16. LCM Volleyball was right about a sweep tonight so you have to give her credit. In her confusion and excitement, she accidently typed in WE (Orange County) instead of THEY (Mid-County). It was an honest mistake, she had BOJO on the mind.
