Yesterday SB1943 was sent to the House Committee Coordinator and was today sent to Calenders for a hearing date. No date has been set.

I agree. Next time someone finds a million dollars or so laying around, just donate it to the scoreboard fund and lets get rid of those pesky ads. ;D

According to the House calender, the House version of the bill was still in committee as of 5-11-07. Maybe the page has not been updated. The Senate version was amended from the original bill so the House must not only debate the bill but also debate the changes made by the Senate. If they are going to introduce the bill on the floor of the House in the next two week, they had better hurry. The session ends in 13 days.

Good season by LC-M. They started with almost all new starters and won district. Very few teams could have graduated just about the entire team and come back to be alone in first place.

I always borrow one.

Whatever happens has to be quick. It is in committe in the House and there will be 21 days left in the session after today. There is usually a mad scramble at the end of the session with dozens (if not hundreds) of bills still in committee.

Nor Bridge City. The poll says the best 4A team... hmmmm.....

I leave for 12 minutes to drive home and poof...... Good job anyway by pushing BH to three games. Good job by Vidor having to beat Nederland in a playoff game for third place. Great season for the Pirates. Congratulations to Barbers Hill.

Pulling for the home district... and anyway, I coached Kyle Green for 4 years in Little League. I instilled those fundamentals in him. ;D

After reading the bill, I am not sure that it will involve TAPPS schools. It appears from the language of the bill that it is for new schools that may not be part of TAPPS and have nowhere to go. The law specifically states that to join the UIL, the school must have: ( The University Interscholastic League may not deny a school or its students the opportunity to participate in an activity sponsored by the league or become a member of an appropriate league district or otherwise discriminate against a private school or its students if the private school: _____(5) sought membership in another interscholastic organization but was denied membership in that organization. The law says that they must have been denied membership in another interscholastic organization AND was denied. TAPPS is an interscholastic organization. If a school such as Kelly is already part of an interscholastic organization, how can they fit the requirement of a school that has been denied membership? It seems as if this bill is targeted at a school that is looking to compete in athletics and has nowhere to go. That does not fit the current state of most (all?) private schools in this area.
